All About Year 1 and 2

In Year 1 children move from the Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. We continue to build upon the progress the children have made during their Reception year and to encourage greater independence in subtle ways.

Year 2 is a very important final year in Key Stage 1. We continue to build on the children's progress and help prepare them for life in Key Stage 2 and the juniors

Term 1 and 2

We are Historians

In Class 3 and 4 we have become Historians!
We will be looking at how things have changed over time, including within the home, toys and transport!
Our key texts for the term are based around giants! They have included The Smartest Giant in Town by Julia Donaldson and Grandad’s Secret Giant by David Litchfield.
In Maths we are using the White Rose Scheme of work to cover Place Value and Addition and Subtraction.
In art we will be looking at the work of L.S Lowry and creating our own seascape, inspired by the artist.
In Science we will be investigating materials and their properties.
