Cycle A Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum at Gardners Lane Primary School gives children opportunities to learn, build on and develop new skills and addresses the requirements of the National Curriculum.
Children are exposed to a range of subjects and activities which allows them to experience different topics and learning styles in a fun and engaging way.
Please find below our termly overviews for each year group so that you can see the key skills that the children will be learning about in each term of the school year. You will also be able to see our whole school schemes we are using.

Experiences at Gardners Lane
Cultural capital is defined as the accumulation of knowledge, behaviours, and skills that a student can draw upon and which demonstrates their cultural awareness, knowledge and competence; it is one of the key ingredients a student will draw upon to be successful in society, their career and the world of work
At Gardners Lane Primary School we want all children to have a broad range of experiences and we aim to provide a range of opportunities above and beyond those in the classroom. By the time children leave Gardners Lane we believe they should:
- See a live performance
- Experience a holiday at the beach
- Stay away from home, camping out
- Help others
- Be in a performance, performing to a live audience
- Experience working as part of a team
- See animals first hand
- See where things come from
- See how reading is valuable beyond the classroom
We recognise that not all children have the opportunity to do these things out of school. Our school offer below aims to ensure that every child is given these valuable life experiences:
Whole School – Walk of the local area to look at where we live, Visit to the local library experience, visit places of worship, visit a book shop, Carol service at the church

Key Stage 2 – be part of the Key Stage 2 end of Year performance.
