All About Year 1 and 2

In Year 1 children move from the Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. We continue to build upon the progress the children have made during their Reception year and to encourage greater independence in subtle ways.

Year 2 is a very important final year in Key Stage 1. We continue to build on the children's progress and help prepare them for life in Key Stage 2 and the juniors.

Term 1 and 2

Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow...

We will be finding out about the Titanic.

What was life like on board?

Where was the ship going?

What caused the disaster?

Why were so many lives lost?

Term 3 and 4

Out of this World...

This term, we are going ‘Out of This World’ to explore and discover the history of space travel. In English we are reading ‘Hot to Catch a Star’ and we will learn how to write stories and instructions. In Science, we will learn about working scientifically. We are also going to use a range of materials to create our own aliens and rockets!
