Class 4

CLASS 4 g WEBSITE

All About Year 1

In Year 1 children move from the Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. We continue to build upon the progress the children have made during their Reception year and to encourage greater independence in subtle ways.

Term 5 and 6

All Aboard...

We are using the books ‘How to Lose a Lemur’ by Frann Preston-Gannon and The Lighthouse Keeper books by Ronda & David Armitage to look at the countries of the United Kingdom, the surrounding seas and different forms of transport.  We’ll be using maps and lots of photographs.  Come on a journey with us!

Term 3 and 4

Lights, Camera, Action

Lights, Camera, Action in Year 1 is going to use two of the Julia Donaldson films to help with their Science and English work.  Stickman is going to help the children understand the changes that happen with our seasons during the year, whilst the Witch’s animal friends from ‘Room on the Broom’ can help us with our Science topic of ‘Animals and Humans’.  We will also be going to see our neighbours at the animal shelter – let’s hope our adults don’t want to take all the animals home with them!!

Term 1 and 2

Frozen in Time

The Year 1 children in classes 3 and 4 will be explore the trials and tribulations encountered by Nurses past and present.  They will learn how hospitals have improved and how nursing has changed.  Bandages, tomato sauce and role play will qualify them to become experienced nurses.

The children will also open a ‘Days Gone By’ Toy Museum where they can play, create and compare toys both past and present.
