Class 3
All about Year 1
In Year 1 children move from the Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. We continue to build upon the progress the children have made during their Reception year and to encourage greater independence in subtle ways.
A Night in the Museum
In Class 3 we will be learning about what a timeline is and recording the milestones that have happened so far in our lives by creating our own timeline.
We will also be learning about Queen Victoria and comparing toys of Victorian times to toys of today. We will have an opportunity to explore and play with some Victorian toys and discuss the similarities and differences that we notice with our own toys.
Up, up and Away
Class 3 and 4 will start their magical journey exploring the local area and will then head on across the United Kingdom and its surrounding seas!
Flying on a dragon, the children will be exploring the capital cities of the four countries of The United Kingdom in search of the missing dragon from the Welsh Flag! Along the way they will be stopping at various castles and investigating their history and characteristics.
Who knows where they will travel next!!
Land of Make Believe
This term, Class 3 will be taking a stroll in the Deep Dark Wood. We will be meeting characters such as The Gruffalo, The Stick Man, The Bad Tempered Ladybird, The Very Busy Spider and The Quiet Cricket. On our journey to this Land of Make Believe we will be exploring the environment around us and will be finding out about the Tiny Seed. To help us understand our experiences and findings we will use skills from all of our learning such as measuring, comparing, sequencing, describing, counting in 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s, investigating and many more....
